The people who write the materials are the ones who decide that they are easy to read. MedlinePlus does not decide the literacy level of materials. In general, easy to read materials are usually written at a 5^th to 8^th grade reading level. The interactive health tutorials are written at a 5^th to 6^th grade reading level. The medical encyclopedia is higher. The summaries on our health topic pages aim for a 5^th to 8^th grade reading level.
