Internet Grateful Med to Be Retired
NLM Gateway Assumes Many IGM Functions
Since its 1996 debut, IGM has found itself with many loyal and
devoted users. The rapid march of technological progress, however,
means that a mere five years later, this search method is being
phased out. NLM expects that IGM will be officially and completely
retired by the end of September 2001.
The Library is making significant strides in its efforts to
convert bibliographic data from the legacy ELHILL retrieval system
to other Web-based retrieval systems. Many of the functions that
made Internet Grateful Med so popular with users have been
incorporated into the NLM Gateway (http://gateway.nlm.nih.gov/gw/Cmd).
The Gateway permits users to search a family of NLM databases and
resources at once.
The NLM Technical Bulletin article, "Internet Grateful Med to Be
Retired; Reminder of NLM Gateway Availability" (http://www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/techbull/jf01/jf01_igm_phaseout.html)
chronicles the IGM phaseout plan in detail. |
