Nainoa Thompson Hawaiian traditional navigator

Nainoa Thompson was the first modern-day Native Hawaiian to learn the art and science of non-instrument Polynesian navigation. He learned from the late Mau Piailug and is the current chair of the Polynesian Voyaging Society, an organization dedicated to voyages of discovery using traditional navigation and canoeing skills.
