Through live demonstrations and hands-on exercises, this 90-minute online class explores the use of MeSH in the cataloging environment.

This class will be taught by Sharon Willis, Senior Cataloging Specialist at the National Library of Medicine.

Objectives:

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to: 

  • Describe the overall process of cataloging using MeSH. 
  • Explain the principles of subject analysis. 
  • Find information about specific terms and the MeSH hierarchy using the MeSH browser. 
  • Properly structure MeSH in a bibliographic record. 
  • Explore topics that require special consideration or exceptions for catalogers when using MeSH.  
  • Request changes to the MeSH vocabulary.
