October 2023 SNOMED International Business Meetings and SNOMED CT Expo 2023 - In-person and Virtual: October 21 - 27, 2023, Atlanta, GA

As the U.S. representative member to SNOMED International, NLM (National Library of Medicine) is serving as host country for the upcoming October 2023 SNOMED International Business Meetings and SNOMED CT Expo 2023.

SNOMED International's October 2023 Business Meetings include formal meetings of the governance and advisory bodies (groups with an appointed or elected membership), and of the working groups (clinical and project groups completing a defined set of deliverables). Many of the meetings are open to observers, while some are closed sessions. All will be delivered with hybrid access. Both in-person and online participation in the business meetings are free of charge, but you must register. The October 2023 Business Meetings schedule is available here.

The SNOMED CT Expo unites clinical terminology subject matter experts from around the world, including government officials, health IT professionals, health practitioners, researchers, academics, and vendors. Discover how SNOMED CT enables data driven health systems and improved patient outcomes from a wide range of global implementers. Registration is required to attend the expo. The SNOMED CT Expo 2023 program is available here. All SNOMED CT Expo presentations will be delivered with hybrid access.

SNOMED CT Expo attendees will also have an opportunity to chat with NLM personnel at the NLM Exhibit Booth. Other U.S. federal agencies will also have exhibit booths to interact with, including the FDA and CDC.

• Tuesday, October 24, Open General Assembly, 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. EST - Joint presentation of ONC (Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, Carmela Couderc) and NLM (Dianne Babski) giving overview of health standards and health IT landscape in the US and the roles ONC and NLM play.
• Thursday, October 26, Opening Keynote, 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. EST - Micky Tripathi (ONC), National Coordinator for Health Information Technology at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
• Thursday, October 26, 2:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. EST - Olivier Bodenreider (NLM) - Lessons learned from instantiating the SNOMED CT international medicinal product model with RxNorm drugs products.
• Thursday, October 26, 1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. EST - Workshop run by James Campbell, Stan Huff, and Olivier Bodenreider (NLM) - Interoperation and analytics of EHR (Electronic Health Record) data: Use cases for problem list, laboratory results, anatomic pathology and mediations.
• Friday, October 27, James Read Memorial Lecture Keynote, 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. EST - Dr. Keith Campbell (FDA), SHIELD (Systemic Harmonization and Interoperability Enhancement for Laboratory Data) Program Director.
