Try Out the New Technical Bulletin. NLM Tech Bull. 2025 Nov-Dec;(467):e1.
The National Library of Medicine announces a modernized, user-focused NLM Technical Bulletin website. The modernization includes improvements to the site’s architecture, search and browsing experience, and visual design. User feedback informed these improvements.
New features include:
- Filters: To improve the findability of articles, users can select filters like Popular Products and Publication Year.
- Latest articles display: The homepage displays all latest articles like a newsfeed. Bimonthly issue covers can be found on the Current Issue and Past Issues pages.
- Related Articles box: On the right-hand side of each new article, a box will list three related articles to encourage browsing and help users find more relevant news. This new feature begins with the January-February 2025 issue.
NLM will release the modernized site in three phases:
- Phase One: Starting today, the modernized website will be publicly available as a beta website (techbull-beta.nlm.nih.gov). A green banner with a link to the new website will display at the top of the current website. During initial rollout, the new design will only be applied to articles dating back to September 2005. Older content dating back to 1997 will be migrated to the new design incrementally with a target completion of mid-July 2026. Users can provide feedback via the yellow Feedback button located at the bottom right of the modernized pages.
- Phase Two: In late April 2026, the modernized NLM Technical Bulletin will become the primary website. Users can continue to toggle to the previous website design via a green banner at the top of each page.
- Phase Three: In mid-July, 2026, NLM will retire the previous website design. Users can find all articles published from 1997 and later in the modernized website and print issues will be archived in the NLM Digital Collections. All articles in their original layouts can be found in the NLM Technical Bulletin Archive-It collection.
We invite you to explore these new features, share with colleagues and submit your feedback to NLM via the yellow feedback button. For any other questions or concerns, please submit a ticket to the NLM Help Desk.
