Research Fellowship Program

This program allows PhD graduates to train at NLM.

Research Fellows work side-by-side with investigators conducting biomedical research. NLM offers research opportunities in computational biology and computational health research.

Length of Award

The initial appointment will be for up to 2 years, with extensions up to 5 years performing full-time research at the NLM.​

Eligibility

To be considered for the Research Fellowship Program, applicants should be:

  • be a U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or non-resident aliens with a valid employment-authorized visa
  • possess a Ph.D., M.D., D.D.S., D.M.D., D.V.M. or equivalent degree in a biomedical, behavioral, or related science, or have been certified by a university as meeting all the requirements leading to such a doctorate

Application Process

The application is open year-round. It is recommended to apply six months prior to your preferred start date. Additional program details are available on the Research Fellow webpage of the NIH Office of Intramural Training and Education website.

Review NLM’S Labs and identify potential PIs whose research interests align with your goals. Contact the investigator directly to discuss your interest with training at NLM.​
