Dr. Enriqueta Bond Chosen to Head Board of Regents
Will Serve Through May 2000
Enriqueta C. Bond, PhD,
President of the Burroughs Wellcome Fund, Durham, North Carolina, is
the new chair of NLM's Board of Regents.
Dr. Bond received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley
College, her MA from the University of Virginia, and her PhD in
molecular biology and biochemical genetics from Georgetown
University. Prior to being named President of the Burroughs Wellcome
Fund in 1994, she served on the staff of the Institute of Medicine
(IOM) since 1979, becoming the Institute's Executive Officer in
1989.
Dr. Bond currently serves on the Council of the IOM and is Vice
Chair of the Board of Scientific Counselors for the National Center
for Infectious Diseases at the Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention. She also chairs the Board of the North Carolina
Biotechnology Center.
