NDF-RT Removed from RxNorm Beginning 2019

NDF-RT Removed from RxNorm Beginning 2019. NLM Tech Bull. 2018 Jul-Aug;(423):b8.

2018 August 06 [posted]

The Veterans Health Administration replaced the National Drug File-Reference Terminology (NDF-RT) with Medication Reference Terminology (MED-RT) in March 2018. NDF-RT will remain in RxNorm through 2018. However, the December 2018 RxNorm release will be the last release to include NDF-RT. The January 2019 RxNorm release will not contain NDF-RT data. Please plan accordingly.

As a reminder, there are no plans to include MED-RT in RxNorm; however, MED-RT is included in the UMLS Metathesaurus along with RxNorm and its source vocabularies. MED-RT is also included in several RxNorm API resources. For more information about MED-RT, see Federal Medication Terminologies.
