FY 1999 Annual Report Available

The "National Library of Medicine Programs and Services, FY 1999, has been received from the printer. The 94-page report covers the activities of the Library from October 1998 through September 1999. It includes chapters on Library Operations (including tables of workload indicators), Specialized Information Services, Lister Hill Center, National Center for Biotechnology Information, Extramural Programs (all grants awarded are listed in an appendix), Office of Computer and Communications Services, and Administration. Appendixes contain the rosters of all major advisory bodies, a list of the Regional Medical Libraries, and grants. There is an organization chart on the inside back cover.

A printed version of the report is free and may be requested by e-mail from publicinfo@nlm.nih.gov or by writing to the NLM Office of Communications and Public Liaison. There are also copies of the 1998 annual report, if you haven't yet requested one.

New Publication Grant Program Fact Sheet Announces Major Changes

NLM awards small grants, for up to three years, to provide short-term assistance for the preparation of book-length manuscripts about information of value to U.S. health professionals. Recently, however, the program has changed significantly, with increases in the amount of support available, and a change in the grant mechanism. For the new fact sheet, go to www.nlm.nih.gov/pubs/factsheets/pubgrant.html.

For additional information, call Publication Grant Program Officer Susan Sparks, RN, PhD, FAAN, at 301-594-4882.
