United States Census Bureau

The Census Bureau is the best source for current data and statistics about the United States’ population and economy. The Census Bureau collects and gives out information about health insurance coverage for adults and children. Its resources include:

  • The American FactFinder, an interactive online application that provides statistics from many Census Bureau data sources. This includes the Economic Census, the American Community Survey, and the 2010 Census.
  • The Census Bureau website, which also hosts a Health Insurance page with statistical reports, tables, and other data on health insurance coverage and medical services utilization.

These questions ask you to find information from one or more of the resources at the Census Bureau. You may find the answers by using charts, tables, graphs, or footnotes.

Visit the U.S. Census Bureau’s Health Insurance webpage and, in the Library under 2013 Health Insurance Publications, open the Income, Poverty, and Health Insurance Coverage in the U.S.: 2012 report.
