Chinese medicine has spread to Japan over the many centuries since antiquity. This can be seen in the many Japanese adaptations, translations, and commentaries on traditional Chinese medical text. This book is a 1697 Japanese translation by Oe Iken of Shen-nung pen ts'ao (Herbal and Prescriptions), one of the most notable Chinese texts on herbal medicine.
