Data Changes

Dose Form "Oral Tablet with Sensor" Deleted
The “Oral Tablet with Sensor” dose form has been deleted starting with the June 2019 release. Products with sensors will be represented with a new "Sensor" Qualitative Distinction modifier moving forward. Existing concepts impacted by this change have the same RXCUIs but new strings; they are listed below with the ingredient aripiprazole.

Qualitative Distinction
Qualitative Distinction modifiers allow flexibility in the RxNorm model to create new RXCUIs as needed. See the RxNorm Technical Documentation for more information about Qualitative Distinctions (QDs), which were first released in the August 2016 monthly release.

A new “Evening Dosing” QD differentiates certain methylphenidate products. A new “Sensor” QD is also included to identify sensor containing drug products.

Here are the concepts with new QDs in the June 2019 release:

For each SCD or SBD with a QD, there is an associated attribute in RXNSAT with the attribute name (ATN) of 'RXN_QUALITATIVE_DISTINCTION'. The June release contains the following new attribute value (ATV) to match the QD strings found in the SCD and SBD normalized names:

  • Evening Dosing
  • Sensor
