RxNorm Release Notes

November Release - 11/04/2019

This release of RxNorm is consistent with the 2019AB UMLS Metathesaurus release. For additional information about RxNorm releases, including scripts for loading the RxNorm data into Oracle and MySQL databases, read the RxNorm Technical Documentation.

Data Changes

Vaginal System Replaces Vaginal Ring

The November release includes the dose form Vaginal System, which replaces Vaginal Ring, to better align with the U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) preferred dose forms. The RxNorm Concept Unique Identifier (RXCUI) for fully specified product names are unchanged despite the change in dose form name.

Here are example concepts with the Vaginal System dose form in the November release:
