RxNorm Data Changes

Sotrovimab Status Change

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration determined that sotrovimab is no longer authorized to treat COVID-19 in any U.S. region earlier this year. The RxNorm data reflects this by the lack of both the Attribute Name (ATN) “RXN_HUMAN_DRUG” and a corresponding Attribute Value (ATV) for RxNorm Concept Unique Identifier (RXCUI) 2550903 with string “8 ML sotrovimab 62.5 MG/ML Injection”. The RxNorm terminology (SAB=RXNORM) National Drug Code is also absent, and the “(EUA)” in the Prescribable Name (PSN) has been deleted.

New Spikevax COVID-19 Vaccine Concept Added

The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine will be marketed as Spikevax. To reflect this change, a Semantic Branded Drug (SBD) concept for Spikevax will be in the RxNorm June monthly release.

Here is the new Spikevax COVID-19 vaccine concept in RxNorm:

RXCUITerm Type (TTY)STRING
2601552SBDSARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) vaccine, mRNA-1273 0.2 MG/ML Injectable Suspension [Spikevax]
