Upcoming RxNorm Data Changes

As a courtesy to customers, this section provides advance notice of possible upcoming RxNorm data changes. More information about each change will be provided or repeated in the future. Please note that planned data changes and timelines may change if issues arise.

Test Files with New RxNorm Terminology Term Types (TTYs) Available July 3, 2023

As previously announced, RxNorm will add three new TTYs by fall/winter 2023 at the earliest. These new TTYs will improve the RxNorm model for medications using precise ingredients as the basis of strength substance.

To help stakeholders prepare for the change, test files with the new TTYs are available here: https://download.nlm.nih.gov/umls/kss/rxnorm/newttytesting/RxNorm_full_07032023_new_tty.zip. The test files will be available through the end of August 2023.
