This poster, made in 1963, provides a representation of the Great Leap Forward, a communist campaign organized by Chairman Mao to transform the agricultural base of China from 1958 to the early 1960s which planned to largely mobilize peasants and farmers. Seen here is a group of working-class people marching under a red flag holding different tools used for various methods in mosquito control such as a fly swatter, insecticide sprayer, and shovels.
