Record Details
After entering a search query, the list of results will display some brief information (A):
- Resource type
- Title
- Creator and contributor
- Publisher
- Creation date
- Identification numbers
- Availability status
In addition to the metadata, there are also some quick actions options available (B):
- Download MARC record allows users to retrieve and download the full MARC record of a particular item.
- Share Options menu includes quick actions such as email, permalink, QR code, as well as shareable links to Facebook and X. Note: the email action will open the user’s default email program to send a link. It no longer sends emails from the catalog.
- Citation displays multiple citation options for a selected item.
- Export Options includes actions such as print, export to excel, Endnote and RIS.
- Add to Saved Records will add the selected item to user’s saved records. These are available under Saved Records in the user account area. If not logged in, then the saved records will only remain saved during the current session.
The full display of each record in the LocatorPlus Catalog shows all associated metadata as well as links to request the item.
A. Details: This section displays the full details about the record to help users decide whether to choose this item. Certain details appear as links and can be used to search that specific term in the catalog.
B. View Online: This section appears only if the item is available for online viewing. It allows you to view material from a specific source outside of the LocatorPlus Catalog. This could be a journal hosted on an external website or an item in the NLM Digital Collections.
C. Find in Library: This section displays the availability and holdings of the item and allows users to place requests for physical items in the library. It displays all instances of the record. If there are multiple formats, they will be listed separately. The call number for the record is available in this section as well.
D. Request Physical Copy: This section displays the button to request physical copies of the item. You must be signed in to see this option. Journals, or items with multiple copies must be requested from the Find in Library section.
E. Links: All records have a link available to view the source record. Depending on the material, they may also have outside links to view the item in WorldCat or other services. A link to Download this record in MARC21 or MARCXML format gives the user the option to download the MARC record either as a MARCXML or MARC21 file. If the item is in the NLM Digital Collection, there will also be a link to the resource as it appears in collections.nlm.nih.gov.
