Please note - The US Edition provides a single source of SNOMED CT content for use in the United States. The SNOMED CT US Edition is a standalone release that contains the content of both the US Extension and the International Editions of SNOMED CT.

Version: March 2020 Interim

Release Date: March 9, 2020

This INTERIM International Edition Release has been created as part of the ongoing global effort to tackle the Coronavirus outbreak, and as such includes the updated Coronavirus descriptions for Members and implementers.

Please Note:This is a full International Edition Release package containing changes to the content detailed in the news item under the following conditions:

  • Following SNOMED International's critical incident policy, there will NOT be a recall of the January release, simply an update in response to international renaming, to ensure that SNOMED CT is current when assisting with the global Coronavirus effort.
  • Implementers are encouraged to update to the new edition, however, they are NOT obliged to do so as the concept modelling and identifiers are not being modified.
  • The entirety of these changes will also be incorporated into the upcoming July 2020 International Edition Release.

Please note: SNOMED International and WONCA have decided to deprecate the SNOMED CT to ICPC-2 map. SNOMED International have therefore inactivated all ICPC-2 map records in the current release package, ceased publishing the ICPC-2 release notes, and removed references to ICPC-2 in package naming conventions. Release Notes: This release contains two content files: a LOINC Term to SNOMED CT Expression Reference Set and a LOINC Part to SNOMED CT Reference Set. The Beta content is release under the 715515008 | LOINC - SNOMED CT Cooperation Project module with concept identifiers from the 220170731 version of the International release of SNOMED CT and Version 2.58 of LOINC released December 2016.

Please Note: This release is distributed for evaluation purposes only and should not be used in production clinical systems or in the clinical setting.

This package contains the SNOMED CT International Edition concept model represented using RF2 reference sets. In addition to the four new MRCM refsets, the Beta release package also contains various files (Concept, Description, etc) containing supporting content from the prospective July 2017 SNOMED CT International Edition. These are provided in order to aid the consumption and analysis of the MRCM refsets, and should not be used for any other purpose.

Please Note: This supporting content is provisional, and can not be considered final until July 31st 2017. It should therefore not be used in any Production systems and should be used only in test systems to aid the evaluation of the MRCM refsets.

Permanent Packages were previously included in the SNOMED CT International Edition Release Format 1 (RF1) distribution. Because the files do not change from one release to the next, as of January 2015, the files have been made permanently available to IHTSDO Member National Release Centers and Affiliate Licensees via Internet download. They are no longer included in the International Edition.
