MeSH Browser
- Geographic terms are all found in the Z tree of MeSH
- Only terms found in MeSH may be used
- Use terms in direct order, exactly as they appear in the MeSH browser
- Assign the most specific term(s) available
Rule of Three
- In general, use a maximum of three geographic headings on a catalog record
- If four or more headings appear to be relevant try to go up the tree to find a more general term
- Example: The work is discussing Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Go up the tree from the specific state names and use
