  The UTS API has six new methods: getConceptDefinitions(), getUpdatedSourcesByVersion(), getAllRootSourceFamilies(), getRootSourcesByFamily(), getRootSourcesByRestrictionLevel(), and getRootSourcesByLanguage().

• New Scripts for Automating UMLS and RxNorm Downloads
  October 17, 2013
  UMLS and RxNorm users may now automate downloads by utilizing the newly released downloads script.  Combine the script with a scheduling tool to fully automate your downloads.  The scripts support Windows®, Mac™, Linus™, and Solaris™ operating systems. Download the scripts and README zip file with instructions from //download.nlm.nih.gov/rxnorm/terminology_download_script.zip.

• SNOMED CT and LOINC to be linked by cooperative work

  The IHTSDO and Regenstrief Institute Inc. have signed a long-term agreement to begin cooperative work linking their health care terminologies: SNOMED Clinical Terms (SNOMED CT), and Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes (LOINC). This significant agreement will help improve safety, functionality and interoperability for the rapidly growing number of clinicians who manage and exchange health data with electronic medical records.

• NLM Invites Nominations for IHTSDO Standing Committees - Due July 29, 2013

  Call for Nominations: As the U.S. Member of the International Health Terminology Standards Development Organisation (IHTSDO), the National Library of Medicine (NLM) is soliciting nominations of potential candidates for the four IHTSDO Standing Committees – Content, Quality Assurance, Implementation & Innovation, and Technical. These Committees have important roles in the ongoing development of the SNOMED CT clinical terminology and in the IHTSDO. Nominations are due to NLM by COB July 29, 2013.

• SNOMED CT Implementation Showcase - October 10-11 in Washington DC

  The IHTSDO will hold its 2013 SNOMED CT Implementation Showcase in Washington DC, USA, from October 10-11, 2013. The theme is Express Yourself with SNOMED CT. • Updated SNOMED CT to ICD-10 Cross Map Available

  The February 2013 version of the SNOMED CT to ICD-10 Cross Maps is available for download. The content maps the July 2012 SNOMED CT International Release to ICD-10, fourth edition (2010). The download contains files in Release Format 2 (RF2).

• SNOMED CT: US Edition, March 2013
  March 8, 2013
  NLM announces the release of the US Edition of SNOMED CT. The US Edition combines the International Release of SNOMED CT and US-specific content previously found in the US Extension to SNOMED CT. It eliminates the need for users to combine the two products. The US Edition is the official source of SNOMED CT for use in US healthcare systems.
  The download contains files in both Release Format 1 (RF1) and Release Format 2 (RF2) versions. NLM will provide an updated US Edition approximately one month after each International Release update.

• SNOMED CT: US Extension, March 2013
  March 8, 2013
  As of March 2013, NLM will no longer provide a separate US Extension to SNOMED CT file. The final release of the US Extension is available for download from the same page as the newly released US Edition.

• Call for Papers for SNOMED CT Implementation Showcase 2013

  The IHTSDO invites SNOMED CT implementers to submit proposals for presentations, posters, or tutorials for the upcoming Showcase on October 10-11, 2013, in Washington DC. The deadline for proposal submission is May 1, 2013.

  The January 2013 SNOMED CT International Medical Devices technology preview is available for download in Release Format 2 (RF2) only. These files are for evaluation purposes only. They are not part of the January 2013 International Release and are not recommended for use in clinical systems. To provide feedback on the medical devices terminology, send comments to NLM Customer Service with the subject "SNOMED CT International Medical Devices" by February 28, 2013.
