Authority
HL7 Table 0292, Vaccine Administered (CVX) is a product of the National Center of Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD). NCIRD is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The NCIRD developed and maintains CVX.

Purpose
CVX is a HL7 standard code set. The codes are used for immunization messages with either HL7 2.3.1 or HL7 2.5.1.

Description
CVX includes approximately 200 active and inactive vaccine terms for the US. It also indicates a vaccine’s current availability and the last update time for the vaccine code. Inactive vaccine codes allow users to transmit historical immunization data.

Metathesaurus Update Frequency
CVX is updated in each Metathesaurus release as part of RxNorm.
